If I'm not mistaken the accused has the right to a jury trial, for the case to be heard by an unbiased, unprejudiced jury or "your peers" -- My question quite simple - IF the accused is an "inmate" how on earth can anyone that has never served time (especially in a maximum security environment) be considered a jury of "your peers?" It is IMPOSSIBLE - this is a travesty plain and simple - Life inside prison is much different than it is on the outside - you are faced with situations every single day that change you at the very core of your being - often creating a person that isn't recognized by their own family - a direct result of the "type of "life" they are forced to live under such deplorable and corrupt conditions - SO how then in the richest nation in the world - do we allow an inmate to be tried in a mock courtroom inside a maximum security prison where jurors are bused into this supermax facility and not a single juror had ever served time behind bars??? How can this be fair and impartial? It isn't? And how on earth can we, as a people allow the Death Penalty to be an option for prosecutors - when only those who have walked behind the high walls and rolled razors have a clue what it is truly like? It is not only illegal and unconstitutional it is disgusting. I support the death penalty - when guilt is proven in certain crimes -- BUT never, ever should an inmate be given the death penalty for crimes inside correctional facilities.
