The link only works if you copy and paste it. Here is the gist of it: "DARDENNE PRAIRIE, MO. -- For nearly a year, the families who live along Waterford Crystal Drive in this bedroom community northwest of St. Louis have kept the secret about the boy Megan Meier met last September on the social networking site MySpace.
He called himself Josh Evans, and he and 13-year-old Megan struck up an online friendship that lasted several weeks. Then the boy abruptly turned on Megan and ended it. That night, Megan, who had previously battled depression, committed suicide.
The secret was revealed six weeks later: Neighbor Lori Drew had pretended to be 16-year-old Josh to gain the trust of Megan, who had been fighting with Drew's daughter, according to sheriff's department records and Megan's parents."
I am really curious about your thoughts and opinions on this. I thought I had heard everything and this news report really freaked me out because a friend asked my opinion about his 13 yr. old daughter's myspace page and I had told him to be careful about who she is letting on her space and to monitor it closely. I warned him about sexual predators but now it seems that that is not the only kind of predator out there. I am horrified that a grown woman and a mother could do something like this.

I didn't use the link you provided, but I read about this in norwegian newspapers.
It probably just started out as a innocent joke - bottom line is: don't ever play games. It might have huge consequences for everyone involved.

I was amazed to see adults playing such childish games. Especially knowing that this young lady suffered from depression. I hope that there is some way to hold them responsible for the death of this young lady. It should never have happened.

I think the town has taken this matter into it's own hands. I feel for the Meier family and I was sad to see that they have split in the aftermath. i can't imagine the pain of losing your child as a result of suicide at any age but particularly at such a young age of 13.

[glow=red,2,300]This is completely unacceptable. What kind of " adult" would think that doing this is the right thing? ( clearly one that is incredibly simple ) i can understand being a parent and looking out for your child but this is incredibly over the top and so so stupid. So much for setting an example for your children. I really hope that this lady ( and i use the word ever so loosely ) is massively punished. Indeed, some would say that living with it is punishment enough... When will peeps realize that their consequences have actions?
